Hi Lyndol,
really liked this week’s seminar even tho I got a little lost on the shifting modes, but they sounded v//cool and want to nail that approach…I sing and love circling in and out of the melody.
Lyndol says
HI Ken,
That’s awesome, I know exactly what you mean – circling in and out of the melody! SO fun! Nice way to express that.
Thanks for your comment. I didn’t get to spend as much time on the ‘shifting modes’ as I would have liked., The first run through took a bit longer than anticipated. So I felt a bit rushed and hence – you feeling a bit lost – totally understandable.
I’d like to do a full live seminar running through that same process (selecting corresponding scales/modes based on the melody/harmony). Maybe I’ll take a simpler tune as well, so it’s a bit easier to follow.
But feel free to reach out in the meantime for a free 45min online consultation to go over the modes in Cry Me a River in more detail. (https://lyndol.com)
Upcoming seminar this Saturday – Transposing to find the right key for your voice!
Hope you continue to enjoy your music! Happy practicing!

Have loved this song for (many, many) decades. Going from very minor to major as it does, and given the lyrics, it’s archetypal schadenfreude! Fun to play at any level.

Hi Lyndol, I voted for a vocals class w/ The Nightingale Sang in Barclay Square. Loved the Annie? version. I am ashamed that my old brain has forgotten her last name….
Jamie Cain says
hi, can someone send me this video with audio for BOTH piano and singing? Sadly, I cannot hear the singing.
Hayden says
HI Jamie,
That’s unusual you cannot hear the vocals…. it’s playing fine for me.
Please can you try using a different browser? (Chrome, Safari, Firefox, Internet Explorer etc… ) sometimes these issues can be browser specific.
To confirm, you can hear the piano but not the vocals? Is this happening throughout the video? Or just in certain parts?
It seems very strange that it works for other students, myself, but not on your computer. Please let me know the above answers and I will investigate and get this resolved for you.
Cheers,
Hayden

In fact Jamie, I think I know what the problem is…. the way this was recorded, the vocals are coming out of my left speaker, and the piano coming out of my right speaker.
I can download the file and fix this, it’s basically playing in mono, and not stereo, perhaps you have a setting on your speakers to switch from mono to steroe, or perhaps you can do this on your computer in the sound settings.
What computer/device are you using?
Cheers,
Hayden
Hayden says
Hi Jamie,
I have edited the video file to change the vocal audio from mono to stereo.
Please watch again and let me know if it is fixed for you.
Cheers.
