Chet Baker Minor 251 Line
In this lesson we look at a Chet Baker line that you can play over Minor 251 Progressions. If you’ve not heard of Chet Baker before I’d highly recommend listening to some of his music.
Chet was an American jazz trumpeter and vocalist, best known for his contributions to the cool jazz scene from the 1950s onwards. I’ve included some links to a few of his recordings below the video.
To get a deeper understanding of what we discussed in the lesson, make sure you check out the lessons on the melodic minor modes, left hand 251 practice and the introduction to transcription.

Take a listen to this Chet Baker recording of "I Fall In Love Too Easily".
The line from this lesson was transcribed from Chet's trumpet solo... see if you can spot it when listening ;)

hi Hayden, great video . I like the one exercise you quickly mentioned, arpeggiating the diatonic chords. A lesson on different exercises for both major and minor chords would be very helpful (i’ve only been playing for a couple of months and need all the help i can get). Thanks and keep up the videos.

Hi Hayden
I was revisiting this. For the line. I use it a lot. I’d forgotten where I learned it. Took me awhile!!! But I found it was from you. So thanks again. One thing puzzles me you call the minor scale you use a melodic minor. But I play a harmonic minor. Because of the Ab in the ii half diminished chord.
