HI jovino, My name is Randy, i am a professional jazz guitar player and have been playing the piano for about 16 years, I consider myself an intermediate player. I have been following your tutorials and seminars and enjoy them very much. I have a question and wonder if you can help me ,. The last few days I have been working on a sonG (TUNE) by Eliane Elias. I love listening to her and Tania Maria. Eliane plays a song named ” A Rah” The frog. I know all the chords but I cannot figure out the bridge no matter how I slow it down etc. It is a beatuful song, The chords are Gm to C and then it goes to Bb minor to Eb and then Aminor to D and then back to Gmtoc, but then there is a bridge that ends up in Dmajor. I Would like to know if you can listen to that song and tell me the chords of the bridge that leads to Dmajor. They sound very simple but I cannot figure them out. I would really appreciate it. Also I would like to take some personal lessons with you. How do I do that?
Sincerely; Randy Wiel

Hi Randy,
Thanks for the comment.
Jovino has created a tutorial on ”A Rah” here: https://www.pianogroove.com/bossa-nova-lessons/a-ra-tutorial/
Also I will send an email to you both now so that you can arrange private lessons.
Cheers,
Hayden

Great stuff. Very pleased to see Jovino covering some Toninho Horta and “Aquelas Coisas Todas” in particular as it’s such a beautiful tune. Some suggestions for future seminars 😉 Samba de Orly by Chico Buarque (Tania Maria does a fantastic jazzed up version). AlsoJoazinho Boa Pinta by Joyce! Keep up the great work guys- it is much appreciated!

Thanks Richard – I’m glad you enjoyed the seminar!
I will pass your great tune suggestions onto Jovino to cover in an upcoming session.
Also Jovino is hosting a seminar this afternoon on “Intros, Endings, & Turnarounds”. You can tune in here in just under 2 hours: https://www.pianogroove.com/live-seminars/intros-outros-turnarounds/
See you there!

Hey Hayden.
Couple of questions. Are you going to put the blue keyboard on this seminar? Also, were there some more seminar resources that are not there anymore? I seem to recall there being some more last time I checked?!
Many thanks!
Richard
Hayden says
Hi Richard,
Yes I will start work on the blue keyboard today, my apologies for the delay here, it seems to have slipped off my to-do-list. I’m working on it now.
I can see 5 PDF downloads on this page, you must click the button “See All Seminar Downloads” which then opens up an overlay showing all of the downloads available.
Jovino included 5 tunes in this seminar plan, but we just covered 3 of them as “A Ra” and “Os Grilos” have been covered on the following lesson pages:
https://www.pianogroove.com/bossa-nova-lessons/a-ra-tutorial/
https://www.pianogroove.com/bossa-nova-lessons/os-grilos-tutorial/
So check those out if you haven’t already.
I will reply to this comment when the light-up keyboard has been added later today.
Cheers,
Hayden

Hi Richard,
I have just updated the seminar to include the light-up keyboard.
Please excuse my tardiness in getting the keyboard on there, it had fallen off my radar.
I can also add in the lead sheets into the tutorial too, if that would be useful.
Cheers,
Hayden
