"The Girl’s Colors" Tutorial
This tune was composed in 1979 when Jovino had recently joined the band of Hermeto Pascoal.
This tune is a Samba but also incorporates some of the Baião style of Brazilian music where the #4 is used for melodic development.
Creating The Form
Jovino wrote the tune in an intuitive way and was not constrained by following a traditional form.
The tune finishes at the point where the chord changes created a natural gravity back to the top of the form.
