“If I Should Lose You” Tutorial
In this lesson we’re going to create a solo piano arrangement of a jazz standard ‘If I Should Lose You’.
The tune was written by Ralph Rainger and lyrics by Leo Robin, originally to a year 1936 movie Rose of the Rancho, and has been recorded by numerous times after that.

Good versions to check out are Charlie Parker with Strings, Hank Mobley, Nina Simone, Carmen McRae together with the great George Shearing on piano, Keith Jarrett, Bobby Timmons just to name few.

Tune follows an A B A B2 form. There are many way to play the tune, but we’re going to stick with the most common harmony, mostly based on a great Hank Mobley Recording on an album Soul Station.
