I’ll Be Home For Christmas Piano Tutorial
Welcome to this lesson on “I’ll Be Home For Christmas”.
“I’ll Be Home For Christmas” is a nice simple Christmas ballad with a repetitive melody and straight forward chord changes. The tune follows an ABAC form and we are playing in the key of C Major.
We’re going to jump straight in with some 2 handed voicings and apply our knowledge of extended and altered harmony. We will also create a intro and outro for the arrangement.

Diminished 7th chords are not as common as major, minor and dominant chords and so you don’t see them as often in jazz standards.
This lesson is closely related to the ‘Pentatonic Improv’ lesson so if you haven’t already, I’d recommend you check that out first.
Intros can be useful to extend the length of your performance and also to establish the tonality or the key in which the tune is being played.
