A listening and transcription session on Beegie Adair’s recording of “But Beautiful”. We transcribe the intro chord progression, the solo piano voicings, and the fills in the trio section.

Hi Hayden.
This was exactly that – ‘but beautiful ‘
More beegie would definitely be a must.
I know you haven’t covered this song in any tutorial so it would be wonderful if you could add this to your list for the monthly seminars – It is the wonderful arrangement by Beegie , what a wonderful world.
The link is below. I know its with the trio but you can hear her playing quite clearly throughout the arrangement
Kind regards
Karl

Thanks for the comments Karl. I have just scheduled the next Beegie transcription session which will be at the end of this month.
Great suggestion with “What A Wonderful World” – the tune has been covered by Kyle – our new Gospel/Blues teacher – and I’m aiming to publish his course in the next week or so as the editing is almost finished.
I will send you a link to it as soon as it is ready.
See you in my seminars this month!
Cheers,
Hayden

love this lesson – the intro is an entire lesson in itself! great tips for sus chords because they can be confusing. the pneumonic you provided really helps with that. triad off the seventh – GREAT

Thanks Harry, I’m glad you enjoyed the session.
I have just added the chapter markings and so you can quickly navigate each each section.
We will be covering more of Beegie Adair next month. Her arrangement of the tune “Autumn In New York” has been suggested by Celia:

Nice job. Could not make this one live. But will watch it again and again at the piano. Beautiful arrangement. Will miss her. But she left a wonderful legacy. On the live seminars, is there a way to capture the notes, references, links, etc. that are often put in the chat? Thanks Hayden.
Hayden says
Hey Becky 👋
Not a problem if you can’t make the sessions live. I have just added the chapter markings so that you can see the main talking points and navigate them easily. I have also added the speed controls and AB Loop.
I agree Beegie Adair has left a wonderful legacy and discography for future generations to enjoy. What a talent she had!
That’s a really great suggestion with the live chat. I can download this after the stream and add it to the seminar page. I agree it would be very useful. Leave it with me and I will implement this asap.
Cheers,
Hayden

Hi Hayden.
I had to post you another suggestion I came across with beegie
This clip is beegie solo and is beautiful. It’s called moonlight in Vermont
It’s at the beginning of this clip. I really hope you can dedicate a seminar to this
